You’ve got the Power

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and
you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,
and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 1:8 NKJV

3 thoughts that leave us feeling different about the idea of reaching our friends with the good news:

The Holy Spirit will always clothe you to do what you can not do. He is not wind, fire or water, although effects of His presence can seem like
it. He prays for us, teaches us, He feels, thinks & has a will. He acts for us. He is God; He is not simply a voice, a ghost, a cloud, He is your advocate, the one who comes alongside, He gives you power, He enhances your life:

‘You are BRAVER than you believe, STRONGER than you seem… and SMARTER than you think’

– A. A. Milne / Winnie the Pooh

Yielding is where you find the power.

“The Holy Spirit does not just help us to know Christ but He helps us
to make Christ known”

This is our purpose – to be a witness. To draw attention to Jesus. A witness is person giving sworn testimony to court of what you have seen.
So we’re called to give witness to what we have seen, heard & experienced.

‘Jesus was born in a borrowed manger. He preached from a borrowed boat. He entered Jerusalem on a borrowed donkey, he ate the Last Supper in a borrowed upper room and he was buried in a borrowed tomb. Now he asks to borrow the lives of Christians to reach the rest of the world. If we do not speak, then he is dumb & silent.’

Dr Leighton Ford, Evangelist & brother-in-law to Billy Graham

He promises to put power under the bonnet of your life. This same power created the universe, raised Him to life, now can live in & fill you. He equips
you for the task. As we love on people, talk to people, and go about our daily lives amongst people, let’s do it filled with the Holy Spirit – He makes all the difference.
